Hosted SolutionShopify is the right choice if you want to focus entirely on your business and have little to do with technology.
I recommend if:

- Technology isn't your thing
- You want to focus on selling
- You prefer predictable monthly costs
- You want to sell internationally
Support & Maintenance:
Updates, security, and hosting are handled by Shopify – you only take care of your shop.
WooCommerce
Self-HostedWooCommerce is the right choice if you want full control and already have or plan a WordPress website.
I recommend if:
- You already use WordPress
- You need maximum flexibility
- You plan custom modifications
- You don't want ongoing platform fees
- You have very specific requirements
Support & Maintenance:
Updates, security, and hosting are your responsibility – or you hire someone for it.

The development costs are similar. The difference lies in ongoing costs: Shopify charges monthly (from 36 EUR), WooCommerce is free as software – you only pay for hosting (approx. 10-30 EUR/month). However, with WooCommerce you need more technical know-how for updates and maintenance.
Yes, that's important to me. Both systems – Shopify and WooCommerce – have intuitive backends. You can add products, change prices, manage orders. After launch, you get training so you can maintain your shop independently.
A basic shop with about 20-50 products is ready in 4-6 weeks. Larger shops with many products, integrations, and custom features can take 2-3 months. Product management is often the most time-consuming part – the better your product data is prepared, the faster it goes.
Basic on-page SEO is always included: clean URL structure, meta data, image optimization, fast loading times. For more extensive SEO measures like content strategy or link building, I recommend specialized SEO service providers – there are experts who do that better than me.
